Stained glass sugar

Greetings fellow Scientists!

Today we tested out one of the Steve Spangler's experiments:


Here is what we've done.

We started by mixing all the ingredients well:


Then, using the hot plates, we boiled the mixture:



 


Lastly, we transferred the mixture into the aluminium trays and made a pattern with food colouring:






Now we have to wait for our stained glass to cool down and harden.

Fire writing

Greetings fellow Scientists!

Today we had fun with some fire writing. Here is what we used:


We started by preparing a saturated solution of sodium nitrate and getting the clamp and stand ready:



Then we hid a message, a letter or a shape on the filter paper:


When it dried, the fire revealed it:




We also had loads of unsuccessful attempts :)

Rainbow fizz
